If there’s one thing Alisa Talla dreams of, it’s the chance to prove she’s no longer a child. She just didn’t think that chance would involve seeing her Gypsy caravan razed to the ground, her family being kidnapped, or her last protector vanishing without a trace.

Alisa is determined to find her family, but before she has a chance strange events bombard her: mysterious dreams of a twisted child, a fox who won’t let her out of its sight, and the dark stirrings of the Night itself. It’s too much to handle on her own, but her choices of companions — a hopeful thief apprentice who robs her blind, his sarcastic master, a psychotic elf, and a man who’s half beast — aren’t the types to fill her with hope.

But hope she must, because there’s something much more dangerous than her companions lurking in the darkness. Alisa has always seen her family’s name command respect. But now it seems to command something more. Because somewhere in her family’s past, there are secrets — a legacy too dark to comprehend. And with the rest of her family gone and an unspeakable evil about to unleash itself on the world, the fate of the planet may very well rest on Alisa’s young shoulders.

Okay, I’m hoping another comment might spur you to action. I love the graphic intro, and it’s making me want to reread Alisa.
